What Have I Been Up To?

So I have completely slacked on posting because, well, it took a back seat to the actual planning of the wedding. But today's a good day:

-We get married 1 month from today (almost to the hour)
-The bridesmaid dresses came in today
-My last fitting was today
-And my mother's dress is in as are all the tux measurements

So, basically, we all get to wear clothes at the wedding!

Sweet.

My Shoes Do, Too

So originally I wanted red soles on my wedding shoes, but these "I Do" rhinestones might be just as good.

It's actually blue as well and meant to be stuck right on the bottom of your special day shoes.

Available at the Classy Bride.

Mmmmm... Lingerie

Just thought I'd share, Trousseau is a super cute store in the DC metro area.

Popped in today to look for some undergarments for the big day and, while there is a bit of overdone wedding ridiculousness there is also quite a lot of beautiful slips, robes, etc. The salespeople were very nice and very responsive.

Be aware, you can not make returns for anything other than store credit but when I explained that I was purchasing in order to try on my gown, they encouraged me to return if anything did not work (tag attached) to trade out.

For more information and directions, check out the site: www.trousseaultd.com.

Pretty...

I just love these necklaces from Etsy, both from PenelliBelle's Shop. Something more than plain pearls, but still very elegant.

Holy Guacamole!

My wedding dress is in!

Yep, the actual dress I will be wearing has arrived (from Spain) and is awaiting my inspection at the shop.

Now to find the perfect shoes and unmentionables so I can go try the thing on...

Sorry, Dad

Well, we already spent a pretty penny or two on my gown, but we apparently could have saved a bundle:

Yep, that is a young lady in a self designed 100% TP gown.

Vicky Heir won a toilet paper wedding dress competition in the lead up to Christchurch's Wedding Expo.

Heir won a promotional competition with her Cottonsofts gown, beating seven other designers.

See more details at BoingBoing.

Insert Gasp

Custom dyed crinoline?!

Yep! You can have your crinoline custom dyed to your favorite color through Etsy! It's only $25 and pretty awesome.

That's right, hot pink here I come...

Something Blue?

Here's a great idea for "something blue": embroidered label for your wedding dress (or a gentleman's suit) with you love's initials and your wedding date.

Apparently J Crew will do this for you, but the above example is from Etsy and only $26.

Super cute.

Geek Garters!

Good ol' Etsy...

Need the perfect gift for your geeky friend who is about to be wed? (Sure, could be me, you never know).

How about a Geek Garter?!?

You can get Darth Vader

Or Nintendo!

Both are by Kizette and available at her Etsy Shop.

Ah, Well

Apparently there is a wedding dress called martini:

It's by Ian Stuart and you can see more about it here. Sure, it's not my style, but that's a great name...

Buff Bride

So I decided to go ahead and do the personal training.

My goal is to be happy with how I look on the wedding day but to get there without being super obsessed.

I'm not sure that's 100% possible, but its worth a shot. And its probably one of the best birthday present's a bride to be could get.

I Got My New Shoes On

So, I think it is necessary for me to get some kick ass shoes to go with my super kick ass dress.
And I'm thinking red. After all, our colors are red and yellow with the girls wearing either copper, gold or brown depending on what we find. So I'm imagining the bridesmaids in strappy red heels and me in something similar, only comfortable. I hope.

I Bought a Dress!

Let me just take a moment to highly recommend Ellie's Bridal Salon to any and all in the Washington DC area.
They were super sweet to me and made the whole process fun and (reasonably) low stress.

Go, go now! And enjoy!

Going Dress Shopping

Okay, so my addiction to election coverage has somewhat zapped my interest in blogging.

Now that we've got a president elect, I can once again focus on the things that matter; bridal gowns!

Mom and I are going to our first salon on Friday.

After that, I need to focus on save the dates, and music for the reception.

For the Bridesmaids

Among the small number of things I know about the wedding thus far involve the length of the bridesmaids dresses and the probable color.

I love the Sophia dress from J.Crew:

I actually own it in dark green and pretty much wear it to every party I can. If the come out with a bronze one we're in.

While we're on J.Crew, here is the first bridal gown I can actually picture myself in:

It's actually the same dress as above in a gown instead of knee length but I think it's just gorgeous. Not sure it's bridal enough but everything else I've seen just doesn't look like me.

Themed Garters

So I've found WVU and UT garters from both schools, but I'm not really a fan because they're kinda big and I'd rather just have a simple garter in the school's colors. Also, if I get one in blue and gold with both charms it could cover me for APO and WVU (not to mention something blue).

I found these online for UT. The 2nd one (the toss garter) is more in the style I want:

These are from Kristi's Charmed Life eBay store.
